The Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso awarded 70% of health contracts to companies belonging to the main 'lobbies' operating in Spain. This is one of the main conclusions of a report prepared by the Citizen Audit of the Health Debt (Audita Sanidad), which details that the “privatization” of Madrid's public health system in 2020 exceeded figures from previous years in awards to these companies, which totaled almost 800 million euros of public money. And all, she notes, “while we were fighting to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.”
In just 41 days of activity, the IFEMA field hospital in Madrid involved the disbursement of 87.5 million euros , that is, more than 1.7 million a day. This Special Data is just one example of the significant spending of public money on health related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which, as a consequence, has generated great benefits for many private companies.
The latest report from the Citizen Audit of the Health Debt ( Audita Sanidad ), "Lobbies in Health 2020" , quantifies and analyzes the destination of a large part of that public money invested in the Community of Madrid by Isabel Díaz Ayuso during the aforementioned year. In this document, presented this Tuesday, the working group assures that 72.68% of the money spent by the Ministry of Health through the public bidding procedure has gone to companies that belong to the main health 'lobbies'.
This group has detected around twenty 'lobbies' that operate in Madrid's healthcare, defined as organizations that defend an interest created by their members and seek to influence political decisions without exercising government responsibilities. “ They try to pressure to modify policies and budgets for their own interests ,” emphasizes Vicente Losada, a member of Audita Sanidad, who insists that “ the way in which these groups “ pressure and corrupt ” is “not tolerable .” administration in an undemocratic manner.
